If you’re someone who likes to have complete control over your car, then you might want to know how to turn off Overdrive. Overdrive is a feature on many cars that allows the car to shift gears on its own. While it can be helpful in some situations, it’s not always necessary. Here’s how you can turn it off.

The best time to turn off the overdrive is when you are not going as fast as you normally do. Turn off the overdrive when you are traveling less than 50 mph (80.47 km/h), which causes the engine speed inconsistent.

It is because, the engine RPM will increase while accelerating during driving and OD will decrease the RPM, as a result, the engine speed tends to be inconsistent and makes the ride uncomfortable.

You should turn off the overdrive in descending such as mountain slopes. You should not use the overdrive while going down or up a hill. Turn OFF the overdrive when a heavy load is towed to the car and also in the areas where the up and down and corners are frequent. You should also turn off the overdrive when the overdrive light blinks in the instrument panel.
